Recommended Gear

If you’ve spent any time around this site you know that “it’s not about the gear”. I firmly believe that you can create beautiful, stunning and meaningful images with simple tools. You don’t need to buy the latest and most expensive equipment, but you will need SOME level of tools to craft your images. Equipment should never be the only solution you run to, as you hone your photographic craft, but carefully selected tools can make a difference. I try to avoid GAS as much as possible (read my article on this topic) but I’ll regularly explore new tools, mostly to keep my “chops” up, be curious and never stop learning, but also to help keep me inspired.

I’d never suggest purchasing new gear for the sake of new gear, but if tools can help keep you inspired, open up avenues of creativity and allow you to learn skills and techniques to hone your craft, then you might consider exploring some gear options.

What I’m sharing with you is gear that I can recommend. Gear that I personally own. Gear that I’ve tested. Gear that has had such good reviews that I think you should be aware of them. The photographic industry has exploded in the recent years with innovation and evolution. As a photographer, it’s always a good idea to keep aware of these developments.

I’ve taken the time to scrutinize and evaluate heap-loads of gear, run through piles of equipment reviews and share with you what I would consider photo-gear that fits the nimble, agile and Pocket Lenses mindset of photography.
