Sony A6000 Review: Why Choose an Older Camera

Sony A6000 Review.

Cameras today are amazing. They are packed with technology and extremely capable. In fact, some cameras that were released only a few years ago, were given “Gold Awards”, “Platinum Ratings”, “5 Stars” because of how incredible they were.  Don’t make the mistake of assuming that these cameras have somehow degraded in their features, just because newer models have been released more recently. The beauty of competition among camera makers is that it forces them to innovate and produce even more amazing cameras in order to lure customers over to their products. We, as consumers, win when manufacturers compete.

One factor that I highly encourage you to consider and use to your advantage is the practice of buying slightly older (but still brand new) gear. When newer models are introduced, the price of the previous or “last year’s model” plummets! Often these older models are still fantastic cameras packed with numerous features and capabilities.

Add to this the fact that many mirrorless camera manufacturers will upgrade cameras via a firmware update, and you could get your hands on an extremely capable camera for a LOT less than you would spend on a current model.

With the release of the Sony A6300, some people may mistakenly overlook the older Sony A6000.

Check out the video below to see my quick review of the older A6000. See why it’s low price and feature rich offering might be just the ticket to get you into the mirrorless camera system world.

Very cool video! Liked the technique to record it with two cameras and always switching the perspective. Looking very professional – like those guys in tv.
That camera is really cool – it has some of the features I wouldn’t want to miss with mine and some that mine hasn’t. 11 pictures per second are amazing action pics of Chili I could take with that! Would need a much larger lense though, since she is always way farther away from me. Loved to discover the wristband in the video – I thought you might like the colors, living so close to Mexico 🙂

There is missing a “. What cool” after the word amazing. Didn’t find a way to correct that…

Thank you for this video Sonny. I have a friend that is wanting to sell me his Sony a600. He used it mostly for video and has moved on to the next generation. I just need to get the time to get it from him and give it a test drive. Your video has encouraged me to find the time to do that!

LaRee, You’re most welcome! The camera is a good deal for what it’s capable of.
